Grant Process

The Pedal-with- Pete Foundation annually awards grants to one or more recipients whose proposals most closely adhere to the directives of its mission statement, Pedal-with-Pete is a philanthropic organization, dedicated to raising funds for research to improve the quality of life for persons with cerebral palsy.

Pedal-with- Pete partners with the American Academy of Cerebral Palsy and Development Medicine (AACPDM) to aid in the assessment, ranking, and selection of grant requests. The AACPDM is the premi er international organization promoting excellence in research and services for the benefit of people with CP and childhood-onset disabilities. Their Research Committee is made up of medical and research experts, and has a strict and unbiased grading system to evaluate grant proposals and to mentor researchers/investigators.

Researchers should submit grant requests directly to the AACPDM by mid-April to be considered to receive Pedal-with- Pete funding beginning in the fall. In August, the PwP Board chooses one to three grants from a selection recommended by the AACPDM.

Historically, our grants have been awarded in a range of approximately $25,000. Researchers are notified of their award in August or September. Grant proposals should include the following:

• Research goals
• Timeframes/schedules
• Plans for measuring results and reporting progress
• Criteria for success
• Allocation of funds
• Key staff participation

Grant recipients will be required to report progress semi-annually, and provide a summary of findings and future plans at the completion of the funding. Should you be interested in receiving a request for proposal or have any questions about the process, please contact Mimi Singh, Chair of Research and Education Committee at mimisingh@midohio.twcbc.com.
