Biography, Don Wisler, Board Member, Co-Chair of Development
Don Wisler has served on the Pedal-with-Pete Board of Directors since 2014. Don is the retired CEO of Catholic Social Services for the Diocese of Columbus. A licensed independent social worker (LISW), he spent 40 years working at family service and mental health agencies in Indiana, Michigan and Ohio, primarily in the chief executive officer role.
Don has been cycling for 15 years and has participated in a number of biking events. This was how Don first became aware of PwP, as a rider. After riding the event for a few years, he came across a group of riders and joined them for weekly outings. As it happens, Chris Zeidner, Pete’s brother, was one of those riders, introducing Don to other members of PwP. Soon, Don was asked to join the board.
Pedal-with-Pete was the perfect organization for Don to help out with – “It’s been a great privilege to continue working for PwP these past several years. I’ve been blessed with good health and I enjoy riding a bike. If I can help make someone else’s life a little better and have fun at the same time, why would I not be involved with PwP? I get really inspired by the young kids with CP, especially when I see the big smiles on their faces as they ride their own bike.”
Cycling remains a hobby for Don; four years ago, he rode across the United States with America by Bicycle, riding over 3700 miles in 7 weeks.
Don and his wife, Tam, are the parents of 4 adult children and have 4 grandchildren (so far). He is co-chair of the PwP Development Committee and provides SAG (Support and Gear) support during the Columbus event, ensuring safety and fun for riders.
